man on wire
comes out at the drexel grandview today: beautiful!
(thanks wikipedia):
Man on Wire is a 2008 documentary film directed by James Marsh. The film chronicles Philippe Petit's 1974 high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of New York's World Trade Center.
On August 7, 1974, shortly after 7:15 a.m., Petit stepped off the South Tower and onto his 3/4" 6×19 IWRC steel cable. The 24-year-old Petit made eight crossings between the still-unfinished towers, a quarter mile above the sidewalks of Manhattan, in an event that lasted about 45 minutes. During that time, in addition to walking, he sat on the wire, gave knee salute and, while lying on the wire, spoke with a gull circling above his head.
Port Authority Police Department Sgt. Charles Daniels, who was dispatched to the roof to bring Petit down, later reported his experience:
I observed the tightrope 'dancer'—because you couldn't call him a 'walker'—approximately halfway between the two towers. And upon seeing us he started to smile and laugh and he started going into a dancing routine on the high wire....And when he got to the building we asked him to get off the high wire but instead he turned around and ran back out into the middle....He was bouncing up and down. His feet were actually leaving the wire and then he would resettle back on the wire again....Unbelievable really....[E]verybody was spellbound in the watching of it.[2]
He was finally persuaded by police officers to give himself up after he was warned that a police helicopter would come to pick him off the wire. Petit was worried that the wind from the helicopter would knock him off the wire, so he decided it was time to give up. He was arrested once he stepped off the wire. The police – provoked by his taunting behaviour while on the wire – handcuffed him behind his back and roughly pushed him down a flight of stairs. This he later described as the most dangerous part of the stunt.[3]
His audacious high wire performance made headlines around the world. When asked why he did the stunt, Petit would say "When I see three oranges, I juggle; when I see two towers, I walk."

doing the nasty
so ive been on a pretty good run with eating healthy until about a month ago. i was packing my lunch with healthy protein filled bars and peanut butter sandwiches and apples and salads and i felt great! then, the moment i didnt have time to create these spectacular healthful packages for myself i resorted to the bad, but delicious fast food. hounddogs, pancakes, and especially taco bell. speaking of taco bell, i went there last week out of pure hunger with larry. he bought me the 89 cent 1/2 lbs burrito. it was everything it was supposed to be: meaty, greasy, cheesey, saucy, and filling. after finishing it off, and being satisfied, my stomach began yelling at me. if there was a stomach translator is the area they would translate my grumbles and gurgles to : "for 89 cents you did this to me, you stupid bitch. if you spent 10 more cents you could have AT LEAST gotten a few shreds of lettuce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". And now that im on my "summer break" and not running around all day, if i continue this awful, yet delicious, track of unhealthy food, i will probably be a blimp. but thank goodness for my new obsession with bike riding or i would be one right now. thanks bike that i am trying to get rid of, thanks!

pale blue eyes
On September 13th the Wexner Center presents Robert Forster's Velvet Underground Tribute..........just in time for the Andy Warhol Gallery Opening. It doesnt matter that someone is covering the velvet underground i just want to hear the velvet underground songs live, just to get a taste/dream about what it would have been like to really see them play.
The more and more i listen to Pale Blue Eyes the more i love it and its lyrics and its melody and its emotion and its vibrations and its longevity and its simplicity and its complexity and its rawness.
And I'd do it once again.
The fact that you are married,
Only proves, you're my best friend.
But it's truly, truly a sin.
Linger on, your pale blue eyes.
Linger on, your pale blue eyes.

lack of sleep
a lot of people i know that get lack of sleep simply CANNOT fall asleep. but once they do, they sleep for hours. I, on the other hand, will fall asleep like a brick but wake up at the butt crack of dawn and start my day. i try and try to fall back asleep but once i open my eyes my body needs to get movin'. (not really moving, but like getting some cereal and shit). its not like i work out in the morning, or have to work (except for class at 8:30) but even on my off days i will wake up at 6:45 AM and curse the heavens as i get on my computer and lolly-gag until around 9:30 where my stomach is yelling at me. i should just drink four beers every night so im good and drunk, pass out (no problem there) and wake up around 9 AM. it never ceases to amaze me that i will wake up at 9 AM when im drunk. Its like an alcoholic alarm clock........the bodyworks in weird, yet, amazing ways. one of the top 5 things i want to do in life is sleep in past 10 am and be able to do a beer bong. k bye.
